CoxWireless to deploy High-Speed Internet in rural Illinois
June 4, 2009 - CoxWireless - A division of Cox Communications, LLC has announced plans to deploy High-Speed Internet to the rural communities of east-central Illinois. Customers will have the option of choosing between two a-la-carte offerings, or a customized solution, to fit their needs. The standard residential option will be priced at $35 per month with speeds up to 3 Mbps utilizing a non-line-of-sight technology, while the enhanced residential option will be priced at $55 per month with speeds up to 10 Mbps utilizing a line-of-sight technology. Commercial customers will have similar options, as well as custom tailored solutions.

CoxWireless has selected Motorola Canopy as its vendor of choice to build the last-mile wireless network, delivering broadband Internet access to the much needed remote communities of Illinois. Additionally, Cisco Systems has been selected as the vendor of choice for the network switching and routing, the heart and soul of the operation.
